Kannada rajyotsavam is celebrated on the occasion of formation of Karanataka state on 1956 November 1st. Here are few things you should know about Kannada Rajyothsavam. On this day all the Kannada speaking south Indians were combined to form a state initially called Mysore. Later in 1973 November 1st the name was changed as Karnataka. On this occassion whole state irrespective of their age, gender, religion will celebrate it by hosting Karnataka flag with Red and yellow flag and singing their state anthem. Governament of karnataka will present awards and honors to the good samaritans in the society and elderly achievers who contribute their life to the state evolution. This year, The screening committee of Kannada and culture by the state minister Umashree announced a list of 62 members on monday to whom the honorable Chief minister Siddaramaiah will present the Rajyotsava awards with 1 lakh rupees cash prize and a 20 gm gold medal. The list is based on the social justice, equal district representation, literary and cultural contribution to the state. The list of 62 includes historian Rama chandra guha, Carnatic musician and Singer Kj yesudas, Writer Vaidedhi and Hockey player VR Raghunath.
