Somewhere in a Madhyapradesh village a mechanic Lakshmikanth Chauhan happiliy lives with his wife Gayitri, Lakshmikanth takes care of eher in every way. When he felt the uncomfortable behaviour of his wife and other women due to logicless Taboos of menstruation, he decides to change the perception of people towards and help women to live their life normally, he builts a cheap sanitory pads making machine and what issues did he faced in achieving his endeavour is the major plot.
Akshay Kumar is the only actor from Bollywood right now who is making sensible and successful films at same time and that is why he is the most underrated super star of Bollywood. After his last film, Toilet-Ek Prem Katha which strives in bringing social awareness, he came up with another subject with same cause and yet entertaining where Akshay played the real life hero Arunachalam Muruganathan the real super hero of India. Akshay just nailed it. Radhika too did a great job as a village women with a kind of dumbness, pain and unawareness in her role and Sonam Kapoor added more charm to the film in a supporting role.
Director R Balki well adapted the short plot from Twinkle Kahnna's book, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad and added the surrealistic comedy to make it more watchable and succeded in presenting a social message with a bit of humor. PC Sreeram's cinematography is unparallel and Trived's tunes brought more fun and emotion to the film.
An Empowering Film. Period!
