Odiyan (Mohanlal) returns to his village after a long exile of 15 years. He imposed a self-exile to him and he just returns to his village Themkurrissi and soon it leads to conspiracy. He takes up the challenge to scare a youngster using his tricks. The film shifts to the flashback of Odiyan Manikyan journey from childhood. His journey introduces childhood friend Prabha and her lustful, cousin Ravunni(Prakash Raj). The rivalry between Ravunni and Odiyan lead the two deaths in Prabha Family Pushes Manikyan to leave the village. How his return effects in the village form the rest of crux.
Mohanlal performance is as usual outstanding, his make up in younger version is too good. The transformation he shown in the film is very inspiring. He carried the whole film on his shoulders but the poor script makes the film flat. Manju Warrier is another highlight in the film and her performance is unforgettable. Prakash Raj has a decent role but his dubbing does not impact his originality
Shaji Kumar’s cinematography is impressive as all the visuals have come out well. The music is scored by M Jayachandran and the background score of the movie is outstanding. The action by Peter Heins is good but they don’t live up to the expectations. The film is lengthy and editing work would have done to be more engaging.
