In certain conditions Karikalan(Rajinikanth) who belongs to Tamilnadu shifts to Dharavi region. There he fights for the people who lives in slum, the people in slum love, believe and carry out the instructions said by Kaala. Likely Kaala grows up as Don and most influential person in Dharavi. A selfish politician Hari(Nana Patekar) and in other angle land mafia don wants to occupy the land in the name of cleaning and purifying slum. The rest of the crux deals with how the fight goes between innocent Kalikaran and Evil politician.
Rajinikanth walked away with the award-winning performance his energy, style, look total his presence steals the show. Rajinikanth Action scenes and powerful dialogue delivery are superb it is a big treat for superstar fans. The strong characterization of Rajinikanth and his wonderful performance stands out the best in the first half. And the Moments with his beautiful family and his wife Selvi (Eshwari Rao), romantic angle with his ex-lover Zareena (Huma Qureshi) are the best scenes to watch. Huma Qureshi performance is admirable and scenes with Thalaivar are peasant and cool. After a long time, strong antagonist Hari Dada(Nana Patekar) is projected in Rajinikanth movie, His performance is outstanding and his role remains one of the highlights throughout the movie. In second Half Hari Dada trying to take revenge on Kaala and Kaala protecting his loved ones. The battle scenes between Nana Patekar and Superstar are awesome
This time Director Ranjith brilliantly Written and Directed Kaala, He covered all the things what superstar fans expect from Rajinikanth movies, It will remain one of the unforgettable movies in Ranjith's direction. He ended the climax in a decent way. Action stunts, story, and screenplay are good. Cinematography by Santosh is eye-catching especially scenes in the slum are showcased well. Editing by Sreekar Prasad is sharp. Few songs got well on screen and Background score is excellent.
